The Review Crew

Here's what The Review Crew can do for you:

 

Generate book reviews: Starting in April of 2015, we have been matching authors looking for honest reviews with readers willing to provide these reviews in exchange for a free copy of the book. We have now cultivated a group of reliable reviewers who are eager to read and review for you. Here's how it works:

1. You (the author/publisher/agent) complete our online form to request a review. For cozy mysteries, use this form. For all other genres, click here.

 

2. We'll reply to confirm your estimated promotion date and request any additional information we need to move forward.

 

3. Once it's time to launch your review promotion, we'll set up the form(s) required to recruit reviewers.

 

4. We'll publicize the review opportunity as follows:

• On our Twitter feed (@Cover Cafe)

• On our relevant Facebook page for: Cozy Mysteries or All Other Genres 

• Directly to our mailing list of interested reviewers

On Twitter, character limitations restrict us to sharing the title, author, genre, and sign-up link. On Facebook and with our mailing list, we provide more information, including the plot synopsis, review deadline, and the author's social media links. You are welcome to join our Cozy Mystery Facebook page and/or our All-Genre Facebook page, as well as follow our Twitter feed, to comment on posts and interact with your reviewers and readers once you've scheduled a promotion.

 

5. Once the sign-up period has ended, we'll email you with your list of reviewers, along with their mailing addresses (for hard copies) or send the books directly to the Review Team (for eBooks).

 

6. For hard copies, you (or your publisher, or us, if you've chosen to use our shipping service) will mail the book copies to your reviewers. To comply with FTC and shipping guidelines, please do NOT include any swag with the book. One bookmark that advertises the book you are sending is permitted.)  We ask that you let us know when, and by what method, the books were shipped; we will then contact the reviewers to verify receipt, and remind them of the review deadline. If you do not provide this information, you can expect a lower percentage of copies reviewed. For eBooks, you'll send us copies in the format(s) you'd like to offer reviewers, and we'll forward them out to the team. We also offer you the option of purchasing Amazon claim codes to provide us; we'll send those to the reviewers to redeem.

7. The Review Team will read the book and publish reviews to at least two of the "Big Three" websites (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads) by the established deadline.

Our fee:

If you are able to pay using Zelle, The Review Crew charges $18.00 for this service for up to 10 copies of an eBook. For hard copies, the fee is $16.00 for up to 10 copies. If you are unable to use Zelle, the charge is $23.00 for eBooks and $21.00 for hard copies. Please see our Payment FAQ for more information.

What you get:

1. Reviews written on at least two major websites (Amazon, B&N, and/or Goodreads).  As a disclaimer, we CANNOT guarantee any given number of reviews. We are, after all, counting on our reviewers to follow through, but we can't promise they will do so. However, our past number of reviews written (as a percentage of copies sent out) is quite impressive: from April 2015-December 2021, we have generated reviews for just over 96% of new release hard copies sent out to our reviewers. (The numbers are slightly lower for backlist titles and eBooks.)

 

2. Promotion of your book, website, Facebook page, Twitter handle, etc. We'll include links to up to four of your social media presences or other sites as we advertise your review opportunity, and encourage readers to like/follow your online presence. We will only advertise your links if you provide them to us.

 

3. A listing of direct links to the reviews of your book that were generated as a result of this promotion will be emailed to you as soon after your review deadline as possible.
