The Blue Feather Mystery by Phyllis H. Moore

by Sara, guest reviewer

Meg Miller’s story continues in this fourth installment with "Blue Feather Mystery". As the story opens, Meg is still at Inheritance Ranch, where her family celebrated Christmas with their new friends, the family

Meg’s late mother knew as a girl. Meg has really come into her own now. She is comfortable with her sensitivity, although she is still learning how to understand and process the perception and visions that come her way.

With the arrival of her brother and his wife Meg begins to resolve the legal, financial, and emotional decisions about her unexpected inheritance from a late uncle she never knew. Even as she arranges deeding the ranch to the family her own kin had wronged many years ago, the generous inheritance has given Meg the ability to share her wealth with her family. On Meg’s return home to her little cottage and to the twists and turns of life I almost started to feel her special sensitivity to seeing into the past or future of others maybe extended me. She very quickly moved on to start a venture I much wish I could finance myself—that of renovating older home in her own community.

This book is very much an engaging saunter through Meg’s continuing experiences. There are no nail-biting scenes, but fans of the previous books will thoroughly enjoy knowing what happens next to Meg. Phyllis Moore does not follow typical formulas in her writing. There are multiple mysteries in this tale as well as one new one that is not resolved by the story’s end. As much as I enjoyed this story and found it satisfying, I would not recommend new readers start with this book. Far too much is carried over from the one before this book. But for those who enjoy a series and reading a book that stays engaging based on characters you will come to enjoy and love rather than dramatic climaxes will be highly rewarded by reading the full series. This series has caught me, and I look forward to this next book.
